Ruth. Ever read it?

Four chapters. That’s all. But a great story of how God works in the lives of ordinary people.

Old Testament from 35000 Feet–20 Key People of OT (Part C)

In this episode, there is reflection on how these people in the Old Testament provide a framework for looking at how we can be used by God today. Additionally, there is a summary of how they fit into the historical and geographical context of the Old Testament.

Prof. Goldingay on Ruth, Part III

It is easy to skip over the Old Testament. Aside from the famous stories of Genesis and Exodus, it is easy to then jump past a lot of the material in the OT. We might visit the occasional story of David’s exploits. We will look at the Psalms. But the rest of the pages might go untouched.

Be sure to check out Ruth. And be sure to check out part III of Prof. Goldingay’s reflections on this little book.

There are a number of smaller and shorter books in the Bible.

The Old Testament book of Ruth is a mere four chapters.

However, it is a beautiful story at a purely human level. But we believe that the God the characters speak of is real and at work and cares for what is happening in the world.

Here is a video where OT Professor John Goldingay offers some reflections on this small book through the big key concept in the book.

Old Testament from 35000 Feet–20 Key People of OT (Part B)

4 people during the time of the kings: Saul, David, Solomon, 39 kings.
6 people after the time of the kings: Daniel, Zerubbabel, Esther, Ezra, Nehemiah, the Prophets.

Understanding who these people were helps us understanding what happened in the Old Testament history and more significantly how God worked through a wide variety of people.
