Above is the video for part IV of the series. In it, we discuss Colossians 3:1-17 specifically and offer some overview thoughts on Group Dynamics and Applications.
Colossians is a wonderfully practical passage: it begins with “theology” (vv. 1-4) and then theology leads to the practical with a discussion of the old self (vv. 5-9) and then the new self (vv. 10-17). The first part of the video walks through the passage section by section.
Ideas pertaining to group dynamics starts at 14:25 in the video. In brief, the Bible Study Leader is aiming for “4.”
“4” is the place where there is participation in the group yet the leader is retaining control in the sense that the group is discussing things connected to the passage under study.
As for applications (begins at 19:30 in the video), what we are pointing toward is an examination of our values, attitudes, and behaviors.
Hope the series of videos have been helpful to “see how the sausage” gets made. With an open heart to the Spirit and a willingness to dig a bit with our minds and some guiding principles, everyone can study the Scriptures and lead others in the study of Scriptures!
